It is never  too late! We were taught to read and write in school but not to speak. Actually not even at the university (The USA may be an exception). It has simply been taken for granted that speaking would just come all by itself. That is probably also the reason why so many have phobias and are extremely nervous just thinking about having to stand and speak in front of a group. And when you finally stand there, you are totally unaware of all the strange sounds and movements which unfortunately only the audience hears and sees. But don't think that you cannot do anything about it!
